Founders Story
I remember doing my first shampoo like it was yesterday. Thrown into the thick of it in my mother’s busy salon in the school holidays was the start of a passion that would see me travel the world as a stylist, salon owner and product founder. Salons provide a unique understanding of all hair types and styles from mermaids to mullets and pixies to ponytails, where I found them a hands-on education of hair and life in general.
Throughout my journey as a stylist there was something that I constantly noticed. Clients would leave the salon with glossy hair full of movement, yet when they returned, their hair was either too dry or too soft, which makes for difficult styling, especially at home. No matter how I approached the problem there seemed no easy fix, and It was exhausting trying to explain how to use so many different products and varieties.
A simple solution was required - a go-to product for every client regardless of hair type or condition. I began to imagine one category of product that suits all, whatever your hair type, whoever you are, whatever your style. A shampoo gentle enough to cleanse but removes a build-up of product and hard water, leaving way for a conditioner that needed to add the right balance of protein and moisture without weighing down, making for easily detangling.
This combo would prep hair perfectly to be styled. Styling products are a key ingredient to the ultimate blow dry, where I’ve found you need one hero product that will give your hair structure without weight. I found creams too heavy on fine hair, serums too oily and gels too sticky to be the one prep product that suits all hair types.
With my search and brief narrowed down, and after many attempts, seriously good styler was born. A gel serum hybrid that would smooth, condition, deliver body, yet most importantly not leave a sticky or heavy residue. This was the real breakthrough in product development and the reason for the name StaticJam. All of the products smooth flyaways and help prevent the universal problem of static and frizz.
I’ve found styling hair less stressful now without having to choose from 100 varieties of shampoo, conditioner and styling solutions. The only product decision I now make is how much volume to add to a blow-dry, and as I say in the salon, ‘if it’s easier for me to style, than it’s easier for you at home’. So, from me to you, enjoy doing your hair, whatever your type, whoever you are, whatever your style.
